Text complexity is more than the latest “buzz word.” However, many teachers feel as though they don’t have the tools to do it well. This session will give teachers and their students the KEYS to unlocking the understanding of text complexity and its importance in the classroom. Session highlights include: Review of the KEY components for teaching complex text. KEY examples of strategies that target text complexity in different classrooms using traditional and non-traditional text. Explanation of KEY tech tools, add-ons, and other digital resources that aid in the teaching of text complexity. Social Studies teachers from Platteville High School will be presenting a wide range of strategies that have been used in the classroom to engage students and target the issue of text complexity.
